Privacy Policy

This page explains what data we process when you visit this site and on what legal basis. The site is a plain information page with no accounts, no newsletter, and no forms. We aim to collect as little as possible.

2. What Data We Process

We process only what arises technically when you visit the site:

  • Server logs: Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes the IP address, the user agent (browser and operating system), the requested URL, and the timestamp of each request. This is needed to operate and secure the site.
  • Audience measurement via Microanalytics.io: We collect aggregated, anonymous pageviews (path, referrer, country, rough device type, browser). Microanalytics.io processes the data without cookies and without fingerprinting on servers in Germany (EU) and does not identify individuals.
  • Language selection: On your first visit we send you to either /de or /en based on your browser language. The choice lives in the URL; we do not set a cookie or store a preference for it.

If you choose to write to us by email, we receive your message via Gmail (see Section 5).

3. Legal Basis

We rely on our legitimate interest in operating a usable, secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; Art. 31(2)(d) Swiss FADP). We do not ask for consent because no consent-requiring processing takes place.

4. How We Use the Data

  • To deliver the site and protect it from abuse
  • To understand which content is viewed, so we can improve the site
  • To respond to enquiries you send us by email

5. Processors and Third Parties

We use a small number of external services that the site depends on. Personal data is shared only with these providers.

Vercel Inc.

Hosts the website. Vercel is a US company; servers for this project are located in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). Privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Microanalytics.io

Audience measurement. Servers for data processing are located in Germany (EU). Microanalytics.io operates without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without building any personal profile. Privacy policy: app.microanalytics.io/pages/privacy.

Metanet AG

Domain and DNS management for highlowcity.ch. Metanet resolves the domain to the Vercel server and does not see request content. Based in Switzerland.

Google LLC (YouTube)

The home page shows a thumbnail of a video. Only when you click "Play" does an embedded player from youtube-nocookie.com load. No data is sent to YouTube before that click. After the click, YouTube receives your IP address, device information, and, if you are signed in to Google, your account context. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Google LLC (Gmail)

Our contact address highlowcity@gmail.com runs on Gmail. When you write to us, the content and metadata of your message are processed by Google. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

6. International Data Transfers

Vercel and Google are based in the United States; Microanalytics.io processes data exclusively in the EU. Transfers to the United States happen on the basis of standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Switzerland recognises an equivalent level of protection for participating US companies.

7. Data Retention

We do not maintain a database of visitor data ourselves. Server logs are retained at Vercel according to their policy. Aggregated audience data is retained at Microanalytics.io according to their retention policy. We keep email correspondence for as long as it is useful to handle your enquiry and any follow-up.

8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and the Swiss FADP, you have the following rights:

  • Access to the personal data we process about you
  • Rectification of inaccurate data
  • Erasure of your data, where legally permitted
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Objection to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Complaint to a supervisory authority, in Switzerland the FDPIC, in the EU your local data protection authority

In practice, since we do not maintain a database about you, an access or erasure request will mostly relate to data held by our processors (Vercel for logs and analytics, Google for emails you send us). We are happy to point you to the right contact at each one.

9. Security

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS on a modern hosting platform. Despite the measures we take, no transmission over the internet can be made fully secure.

10. Cookies and Tracking

We set no cookies of our own. Microanalytics.io works without cookies and without fingerprinting. Only the YouTube player may set cookies on the youtube-nocookie.com domain after you click the thumbnail; loading it is your choice.

11. Changes to This Policy

We update this policy when something about our processing changes. The date at the top reflects the current version.
